Morrell recently joined S4 Inc. in February 2009 to develop and implement communication strategies to help the company’s clients achieve their goals.
Before joining S4, Morrell served as NASA chief of staff where he helped develop and implement a wide range of policy and management issues to ensure that the Bush administration’s civil space polices and strategic goals were achieved.
Morrell possesses more than 24 years of experience in the legislative, government and political arena. He came to NASA in April 2005 after having served as director for communications planning for the National Security Council. In this position, Morrell was responsible for the formulation, presentation, coordination and implementation of communication plans and strategies to inform the public about Bush administration foreign and national security policy initiatives and achievements.
Prior to serving on the National Security Council, Morrell was deputy chief of staff for strategic planning at the US Department of Energy. Morrell served as an advisor to the secretary of energy on communication, policy and management issues, and developed and executed department-wide projects and programs to promote key Bush administration energy initiatives.
From 1983 to 2002 Morrell worked in a number of positions at the US House of Representatives, including chief of staff for a number of congressmen. From 1995-2002 he worked for House Majority Leader Dick Armey (R-Texas) in a variety of senior positions, including chief of staff, deputy chief of staff and press secretary.
Morrell has a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism/public relations from the University of Maryland. He and his wife Candace have two daughters.
