Handles problems that the first-tier help desk support is unable to resolve.
Specific Duties:
- Perform daily system checks of servers for Trawing 6.
- Ensure systems are online and functioning correctly.
- Resolve any hardware or software issues that may arise.
- Verify that all backups are completed nightly on all servers.
- Perform weekly reboots of all servers and bring systems back online as required.
- Complete all IAVA updates and monthly DVD configuration updates with the servers.
- Provide support to all customers with their Tranet and Nalcomis accounts, assisting with locked accounts, resetting passwords, assigning account permissions to the database.
- Provide direct support to customers with various service requests arising from printing problems to connection issues to the servers.
- Assist with the deployment and configuration of computer assets during new installations and tech refreshes.
- Install and configure new hardware and software.
- Schedule nightly backups of servers and verify backups upon completion.
- Create and administer user accounts for system access.
- Install hardware and software upgrades to system as required.
- Provide second-tier support to end users for either PC, server, or mainframe applications and hardware
- Interact with network services, software systems engineering, and/or applications development to restore service and/or identify and correct core problem
- Simulate or recreate user problems to resolve operating difficulties
- Recommend systems modifications to reduce user problems
- Maintains currency and highest level of technical skill in field of expertise
- Escalates more complex problems to senior level
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills:
- Ability to troubleshoot PC, server, switches and connection problems
- Previous DOD experience helpful
- Experience providing management and technical guidance in the areas of desktop hardware and software support systems and enterprise management support
- Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
- Good communication skills, verbal and written
- Ability to handle multiple, simultaneous tasks within time constraints
- Ability to work independently and creatively, using independent judgment
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with other employees
- Ability to work well either alone or as part of a team
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Education:
Associates degree or two years of hands-on experience
Qualifications:
Experience with Windows; experience with SQL and Oracle helpful
Certifications:
Must have Security + and Microsoft certification for OS or have the ability to obtain such within 6 months of hire or sooner.
