General:
The Application Developer will work as part of a team responsible for the development of software supporting the Chief of Naval Air Training (CNATRA). The prospective employee will be responsible to develop code, test, and debug new software or create enhancements to existing software. Resolves customer complaints with software and responds to suggestions for improvements and enhancements.
Specific Duties:
- Develop accurate estimates on work packages and distribute work packages on behalf of the manager. Execute design specifications.
- Ensure business continuity by developing and implementing web applications.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written, are a must.
- Apply knowledge and proficiency with database tools and utilities and Microsoft SQL Server, as well as SQL and database performance tuning skills.
- Create system requirements, perform design and analysis, coding and unit testing of complex system functionality and/or defect correction.
- Facilitate root cause analysis of system issues to minimize impact and future occurrences.
- Gather, analyze and influence user and system requirements. Identify and create solutions to improve system performance and availability.
- Create system documentation/use case and serve as a technical reviewer and contributor in requirements, design and code reviews.
- Coordinate system application transition from development teams to maintenance and production team and/or construct and implement necessary controls to assure system / application traceability.
Required Skills:
- Ideal candidate must have at least two years of hands-on developing experience in Visual Studio.NET 2005-8, preferably with Framework 2.0-3.5, or comparable development environments.
- Candidate must proficient with Microsoft T-SQL and must have experience developing, maintaining, and tuning databases to include stored procedures, views, etc. with Microsoft SQL 2005 and/or SQL 2008.
- This is a dynamic environment and the successful candidate will need to be a self-starting, quick learning, detail oriented, highly motivated individual that works well in a team setting.
- Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance and DoD 8570 IAT Workforce Certification within 6 months
- Visual Basic.NET, Visual Studio.NET, SQL Server development, stored procedures, Views, scripting, SQL, T-SQL, XML
- Knowledge of Naval Primary Flight Training.

Education: Bachelor or equivalent experience
